Hermione is the Gryffindor who has read the textbook before term starts and whose quick thinking saves her two friends more often than either would admit. In her third year she signs up for more classes than the timetable allows, and a teacher lends her a Time-Turner, a small hourglass on a chain, so she can attend two lessons at once.
