Totoro and Acorn Cursor

Totoro holding a leaf, drawn as a round chibi sticker. An acorn appears on hover, like the ones he hands out as gifts. Soft and simple, it is one of the most recognisable shapes in film and stays readable when the cursor is small.

Totoro, a leaf and a handful of acorns

Totoro is the huge, quiet forest spirit two sisters meet after moving to the countryside in the 1988 film. He lives in a camphor tree, sleeps most of the day and communicates mainly by roaring and grinning. Acorns run through the whole film: the girls find them scattered in the house, and Totoro hands over a small bundle of seeds as a gift. This drawing shows him holding a leaf, and the acorn is the hover image.

A shape that still reads when tiny

Totoro is close to an egg with ears, one of the simplest character outlines there is, so he stays recognisable at the lowest settings on the slider. The acorn is equally plain. That makes this a sound choice for small laptop screens and for anyone who wants a character cursor that does not cover the text. It is gentle enough for a child's browser. Totoro cursor questions

Does the Totoro cursor include the umbrella?

No. This drawing shows Totoro holding a leaf, and the hover pointer is an acorn. The umbrella from the bus stop scene is not in the pack.

Is the Totoro cursor good for a small laptop screen?

Yes. His rounded outline is simple enough to recognise at low sizes, so you can keep the cursor small and still see who it is. Use the slider in the extension popup to find a size that suits your display.
