Each name tells you the pair

Most of the animal pairs are named for both halves. Frog Lily is a green frog with a water lily bud. Owl Quill gives a small brown owl a feather quill. Koala Leaf comes with a eucalyptus leaf, Snail Fern with a curled fern frond, Jellyfish Pearl with a pearl-topped wand and Otter Picnic with a small picnic spoon. The animal is the normal pointer and the second word is what appears over something clickable. You can picture both states from the title and decide whether the hover image is one you want to see many times a day.

Animal cursors by habitat: woodland, garden, ice and ocean

If you want the cursor to match a wallpaper, choosing by habitat works well. A forest scene pairs with Forest Deer, Sleepy Fox or Red Panda. A snowy one suits Penguin Snow, with its blue icicle, and Arctic Seal, with its snowflake. An ocean wallpaper has the most options: Whale Bubble, Dolphin Wave, Coral Turtle, Octopus Shell, Jellyfish Pearl, Glimmerfin Fish and Kawaii Stingray & Sunfish. For a cottage-garden desktop the insects are the natural fit, especially Bee Blossom and Butterfly Garden. Moon Bunny is the odd one out and belongs with night-sky themes.

Pixel frogs, paper lambs and other styles

Not every pack is a sticker-style illustration. Emerald Pixel Frog, Mossy Toadlet, Puddle Pixel Newt, Frostpuff Pixel Pup, Azure Pixel Parakeet and Baby Axolotl Pixel are chunky pixel art. Petal Origami Bunny, Paperfold Lamb and Origami Farm Pair look folded from paper. Giraffe Pattern Color is not an animal at all but a tile of giraffe print, with a gloved pointing hand in the same pattern. In many of these older packs the hover image is the same character raising a hand or paw to point, not a separate prop.

Which Animals pack to pick

Think about body colour against your usual pages. The orange Sleepy Fox, Red Panda, the red Squirrel Acorn and the brown Honey Bear are easy to see on white. White animals such as Arctic Seal and Moon Bunny suit dark pages. The blue Whale Bubble and Butterfly Garden work on both. For a small cursor, pick compact shapes like Golden Hamster or Ladybird Clover. Midnight Stretch Kitten is an inky black kitten, drawn with a bold outline so it stays readable at tiny sizes.

Where Animals cursors work

Animal cursors show on websites in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera GX: Google Classroom and Docs, school portals, YouTube, pet forums, wildlife and zoo sites. They work on a Chromebook where extensions are allowed, which on a school device is the administrator's decision. They do not appear in desktop apps, on chrome:// pages, in the Chrome Web Store or across the operating system.
