Owl Quill and Feather Quill Cursor

A small brown owl for the cursor, swapping to a feather quill over links. An original design with a bookish feel, good for writing, reading and study tabs. A quill is long and pointed, so the hover state is easy to aim.

Owl Quill: a small brown owl for writers

Owls have stood for learning since the ancient Greeks put one beside Athena, and they still perch on library signs and school crests. A quill is the old writing tool, a feather cut to a nib and dipped in ink. This original pack joins the two. A small brown owl is the cursor, and a feather quill takes over when you reach a link. It is a bird and a feather, with a bookish feel throughout.

A long, pointed hover for careful clicking

A quill is long and thin and ends in a sharp point, which makes the hover state easy to aim at small targets such as footnote links and toolbar buttons. The owl is compact, and brown shows most clearly on white document and article pages. That makes the pack a natural fit for writing, reading and study tabs. On dark themes, add a little size. For something calm in the same spirit, try Koala Leaf.

How to use this cursor

Owl Quill cursor questions

Is the Owl Quill cursor Hedwig?

No. It is an original small brown owl, not a white snowy owl and not a character from any book or film. The hover pointer is a feather quill, which fits the writing theme.

Is the owl cursor distracting while I study?

It is a small, quiet drawing in brown, and you can make it smaller with the slider if it draws your eye. The quill only appears over links and buttons, so it stays out of the way while you read.
