Food & Drink Cursors

Food cursors in the site's own style: doughnuts, dumplings, pancakes, jelly cubes and a glass of tomato juice, most drawn as small smiling characters with a paired hover image.

About the Food & Drinks cursor collection

Food & Drinks is a collection of original designs, split roughly between sweet and savoury. On the sweet side are Froggy Sprinkle Donut, Aqua Donut Buddy, Buttery Pancake Stack, Rosy Berry Bun, Raspberry Jelly Cube, Lime Candy Cube, Blush Puff Marshmallow, Coral Cotton Fluff and Candy Necklace Buddy. The savoury side includes Dumpling Buddy, Sunny Side Buddy, Golden Dino Nugget, Takoyaki Geta Duo, Steamy Tentacle Buddy and Royal Roe Buddy. Saffron Mango Pixel is the one fruit, and drinks are represented by Tomato Juice Cursor and Matcha Froth Buddy. Many are drawn as small characters with a face, which is why several also appear under Kawaii. It suits food bloggers, recipe collectors and cafe lovers.

Japanese snacks and street food

A noticeable thread runs through this collection. Takoyaki Geta Duo is a takoyaki mascot wearing tiny wooden geta sandals. Matcha Froth Buddy is a cup of swirled green froth. Dumpling Buddy has soft pleats and a small smile, Steamy Tentacle Buddy is a steamed octopus, and Royal Roe Buddy is a caviar bead wearing a miniature golden crown. If you follow Japanese food blogs, or your desktop already leans that way, these packs form a matching set you can rotate through without leaving the page.

Breakfast, dessert or sweets: picking food cursors by craving

It can be more fun to choose by meal than by colour. Breakfast is Sunny Side Buddy and Buttery Pancake Stack, topped with melting butter and syrup, with Tomato Juice Cursor on the side. Dessert is Froggy Sprinkle Donut, Aqua Donut Buddy and Rosy Berry Bun. The sweet shop is Candy Necklace Buddy, Lime Candy Cube, Raspberry Jelly Cube, Coral Cotton Fluff and Blush Puff Marshmallow. Something savoury and silly is Golden Dino Nugget. Changing packs takes one click, so a different one for each part of the day is entirely possible.

Which Food & Drinks pack to pick

Food is compact and strongly coloured, which helps at cursor size. The pixel packs are the clearest when small: Raspberry Jelly Cube, Lime Candy Cube, Aqua Donut Buddy and Saffron Mango Pixel. Buttery Pancake Stack and Takoyaki Geta Duo carry more detail and want a larger setting. For white pages, the red of Tomato Juice Cursor and the green of Matcha Froth Buddy stand out. The pink Blush Puff Marshmallow and Coral Cotton Fluff show more clearly in dark mode.

Where Food & Drinks cursors work

Food cursors show on the websites where you plan meals in Chrome and other Chromium browsers: recipe blogs, YouTube cooking channels, Pinterest boards, delivery and supermarket sites. They do not appear in a delivery app or recipe manager installed on your computer or phone, on chrome:// pages, in the Chrome Web Store or elsewhere in the operating system.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a doughnut or pancake cursor for Chrome?

Yes. Froggy Sprinkle Donut and Aqua Donut Buddy are the doughnut packs, both pixel art, and Buttery Pancake Stack is a mini stack with melting butter and syrup. Each comes with a second image for links and buttons. Raise the size with the slider in the popup if the detail looks too fine.

Are there boba, sushi or pizza cursors here?

Not as named packs at present. The nearest are Matcha Froth Buddy for a tea drink, and Royal Roe Buddy, Dumpling Buddy and Takoyaki Geta Duo for Japanese food. For a specific dish, upload an image to the site's builder and create your own pair.

Do food cursors look out of place on work websites?

That depends on the pack and the size. A small Lime Candy Cube or Raspberry Jelly Cube is a simple coloured shape and fairly discreet. Character-style packs such as Golden Dino Nugget are more playful. You can switch back to the normal pointer at any time from the extension.

Is there a kawaii food cursor with a face?

Most of this page. Dumpling Buddy, Sunny Side Buddy, Golden Dino Nugget, Coral Cotton Fluff and Candy Necklace Buddy are all drawn as smiling characters. Tomato Juice Cursor is the exception: a glass of juice in mid-splash with floating tomato slices and no face.
