About the Studio Ghibli cursor collection

This fan-made Studio Ghibli cursor set brings five quiet sticker packs to Chrome, one creature at a time. Totoro holds a leaf and leaves an acorn on hover. No-Face holds out gold, with a gold nugget as the pointer. Calcifer, the fire demon, gets a little log. Jiji the black cat comes with Kiki's broom, and Soot Sprite carries star candy, with a single konpeito star for links. They cover four films between them.

Four films behind the Studio Ghibli cursor packs

Totoro comes from My Neighbour Totoro and No-Face from Spirited Away. Calcifer is the fire in the hearth of Howl's Moving Castle, and Jiji is Kiki's cat in Kiki's Delivery Service. Soot sprites turn up in two films: scuttling out of the old house in Totoro and hauling coal in the bathhouse boiler room in Spirited Away. The star candy the pack shows belongs to the second, where the sprites are fed konpeito.

Acorns, logs and gold: small gifts on hover

Nearly every pointer here is something given or fed to someone. Totoro hands the sisters a parcel of acorns and seeds. Calcifer has to be kept fed with logs or the castle stops moving. No-Face offers gold to anyone who will take it, which is where his trouble starts. Kiki's broom, the hover pointer for Jiji, is the exception, and it is long with a clear tip for small links.

Which Studio Ghibli pack to pick

Calcifer is the brightest pack and the one for dark themes. Totoro is round and simple, and stays readable when the cursor is small. Jiji's black fur shows best on light or pastel pages. Soot Sprite is the most unobtrusive choice for people who want a tiny cursor. No-Face, a dark figure with a pale mask, has a slightly eerie charm that also makes it a gentle pick for late October.

All 5 Studio Ghibli packs

Each pack is a matched pair: one image for your normal pointer and one that takes over when you hover a link or button.

Where Studio Ghibli cursors work

The cursor shows on whichever service streams the films where you live, opened in a tab, and on the Ghibli Wiki, Letterboxd, MyAnimeList, Pinterest and Tumblr. It does not show in streaming apps on a phone, tablet, TV or console, or in desktop programs. Pages that belong to Chrome itself, like settings, keep the default arrow.

Frequently asked questions

Which films are the Studio Ghibli cursors from?

Totoro is from My Neighbour Totoro, No-Face from Spirited Away, Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle and Jiji from Kiki's Delivery Service. Soot sprites appear in both Totoro and Spirited Away.

What is the star sweet in the Soot Sprite cursor?

Konpeito, a small Japanese sugar candy. In Spirited Away the soot sprites are fed konpeito, which is why a single star is the hover pointer in the Soot Sprite pack.

Is there a Howl, Kiki or Ponyo cursor?

No. The five packs are Totoro, No-Face, Calcifer, Jiji and Soot Sprite. Kiki's broom appears as the hover pointer for Jiji. For anyone else, upload your own pictures in the builder on the site.
