About the Mario cursor collection

One fan-made Mario cursor pack for Chrome, built around the Question Block and the coin inside it. This is a small set: a single pack called Mario Question Block. Your normal pointer is a ? Block, and when you hover a link or button it swaps to a gold coin. It is a chibi sticker with bold outlines. There is no character in it, so it suits anyone who wants a nod to the games without a face following the mouse.

Why a ? Block makes sense as a Mario cursor

Hitting a block from below and watching a coin pop out is one of the first things most players do in a Mario game, and it has worked that way since 1985. The pack copies that order: block first, coin second. On a web page the coin appears only over things you can click, so it works as a small reward for finding the link.

One pack for now, and how to add your own plumber

There is no Mario, Luigi, Peach or Bowser here, and no power-ups either. If you want a character, the builder lets you upload one image for the normal pointer and another for the hover state, then apply them as a pair. You could keep the same idea as this pack: a character for the pointer and the item they are known for on hover. Anything you make stays a personal cursor in your own browser.

Which Mario pack to pick

With one pack there is little to choose between, so the question is whether it suits you. Mario Question Block is a good fit if you keep your cursor small, because a square block holds its shape when shrunk. It also suits a shared family computer, since it is an object and not a character. For more variety, look at the Sonic and Kirby sets.

The Mario pack

Each pack is a matched pair: one image for your normal pointer and one that takes over when you hover a link or button.

How to add a Mario cursor to Chrome

Add Cursor Customiser, the free custom cursor extension, from the Chrome Web Store, then press “Use this pack” on any pack above. It applies straight away.

Where Mario cursors work

The cursor appears on pages you open in Chrome: the Mario pages on nintendo.com, the Super Mario Wiki, speedrun.com leaderboards and level-sharing communities. It does not appear inside Mario games on a Nintendo Switch or any other console, in the eShop on the console, or in an emulator.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Mario or Luigi character cursor?

This collection is built around the ? Block and its coin, not the characters. If you want a character on your pointer, the builder lets you upload your own image for the normal and hover states.

When does the coin show instead of the ? Block?

The ? Block is the normal pointer. The gold coin takes over only while you hover something clickable, such as a link or a button, and the block returns when you move away.

Does the Mario coin cursor spin or play a sound?

No. Cursors are still images, so the coin does not move and nothing plays a sound. If you want motion, the extension has optional trails and click effects you can switch on alongside the pack.

Are these official Mario cursors?

No. They are fan-made and unofficial. Cursor Customiser is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo. They are free, with no ads inside the extension and no account.
